Mike: Not well, Tim.
 
T: What’s wrong?
 
M: Tomorrow’s the last episode of the Colbert Report. Ever.
 
T: Aww, I’m sorry brother. Now you’ll have to do something productive with your evenings.
 
M: Your mock sympathy is not appreciated.
 
T: I’m sorry. I just don’t see what the big deal is.
 
M: Stephen Colbert is hilarious, for one. I like laughing, laughing’s my favorite.
 
T: There are other funny things.
 
M: That’s true, but I’m going to miss him.
 
T: Yeah, I can appreciate that. Anyway, maybe this week’s Life Teen Link of the Week will take your mind off of it.
 
M: I doubt it.
 
T: Why?
 
M: Because it’s three of my favorite clips of Stephen Colbert talking about Catholic stuff.
 
T: Wait, seriously?
 
M: Seriously.
 
T: Okay. Which one’s first?
 
M: Let’s start with Stephen comparing the Pope to Batman.
 
T: Wait, what?
 
M: Yeah, it’s a thing. It’s pretty funny, he highlights some of the more awesome things that Pope Francis has done with mock outrage.

   

T: Cool! What’s next?
 
M: How about Stephen Colbert talking to Fr. James Martin about social justice. Again, Colbert pretends to disagree to poke fun at those who don’t understand or like social justice. As Father Martin points out, social justice is central to being Catholic.

 
 
T: I like it. What’s the last one?
 
M: The last one is one of my personal favorites. He talks to Garry Wills, an author who tries to argue that Priests aren’t necessary. I like this one because Stephen defends the true presence of the Eucharist and the institution of the Priesthood. He rightly defends the sacraments in an intelligent way. I also like the way that, despite their theological differences, Stephen is able to have a civil conversation with him.

 

T: Wow, all good stuff.
 
M: Now do you see why I’m so sad?
 
T: Yeah, sure, I guess.
