For this Wednesday’s “Wednesday LifeTeen Link of the Week” LifeTeen SMASH’s Mike Habeeb sat down with Tim Habeeb to show him one of his favorite websites. Their conversation is below.
Mike Habeeb: Hey, Tim! You’re going to love this Wednesday’s LifeTeen Link of the Week!
Tim Habeeb: Oh boy, what is it?
MH: I’ll give you a hint. It has to do with one of your favorite things fro-
TH: The LifeHouse?
MH: No. It has to do with one of your favorite things fro-
TH: Peanut Butter and Jelly selfies?
MH: No. It has to do with one of your favorite things fro-
TH: Ping pong?
MH: Will you let me finish?
TH: Okay. Sorry.
MH: It has to do with one of your favorite things from childhood.
TH: A favorite food?
MH: No, a favorite toy.
TH: Is it Legos?
MH: Yes! It’s Legos™!
TH: What do Legos have to do with the Church?
MH: These really cool people over at the
Brick Testament made a phenomenal website devoted to telling the stories of the Bible using Legos™.
TH: Why do you keep saying that?
MH: Saying what?
TH: “™” Every time you say “Legos™” you say “™” afterward. It’s really annoying.
MH: I have to say “Legos™.” Otherwise, we might get sued.
TH: You’re a coward.
MH: Nevermind all that. Let’s look at some of the cool things the people over at the
Brick Testament have done with Legos™.
TH: Seriously?
MH: Seriously.
MH: Okay, so this is one of my favorites.
TH: I should have known.
MH: This one shows a young David carrying the severed head of Goliath through the city. The facial expressions make the whole image.
TH: That and the trail of blood.
MH: That too. What’s your favorite?
TH: I really like this one of the Last Supper.
MH: Because it has food in it?
TH: Don’t be ridiculous! Do you have
any appreciation for good art
at all? Just look at the detail, the texture, the use of material, the focal point of the whole image! You can feel the Apostles’ emotions as Jesus reveals that one of them will betray him. Yet they cannot even begin to comprehend what he means by this. How could one of
them betray
Him? All at once you can sense their confusion, their anger, their fear, their grief, and their love for the Lord. But then you see the guilt in Judas’ eyes; an expression of complete and utter remorse. And right there in contrast is Jesus’ composed face. He is truly the calm in the middle of the storm… Da Vinci would be so proud.
MH: Woah, Tim… Are you crying?
TH: Of course not… I just… It’s a powerful moment…
MH: I’m sorry, brother. I didn’t know you felt so strongly about art.
TH: Mike, this is more than just art. This is a Legos™ masterpiece of Biblical proportions.
